To Do, Tuesday

Doing a blog post is on my To-Do List this evening so I am doing it (not sure if I will get to the "ironing" or the "organise wadrobe" as it is twenty too ten now). Sorry that is all I have tonight. No more inspiration from me. I am tired. I also think I was mistaken for a druggie at Fresh Provisions this evening.

I have been on leave for the last week and today was my first day back. It was rather uneventful. This is what I wore:

Cue Top
Ladakh Skirt
Dotti Belt
Nude Footwear Shoes

This skirt cost me $8 off Gumtree. I can not talk this source up enough. This is what I got from the same seller. Total cost $38. BAR-GAIN.

I appear to have also taken photos of my adorable 2011 Frankie diary that suprised me in the mail sometime last week. Is it not cute. I can't wait to start using this (and not use it until March when I get lazy and bored and stop using it). Bring on 2011.

That is all. I can't take the ironing sitting there and mocking me any longer. I may just iron something to wear tommorow though. Where is mommy when I need her. Usually, standing in the same room and doing my ironing in front of her drives her insane as I take an hour to iron five shirts so she does it for me. The things you miss when you leave home huh.

Today I decided I am going to plant me a herb garden on our balcony. I feel the need to have something to have to take care of. Researching how to do this is also on my list to do tonight. Seeing as at present all I have is one pot for this said garden, I think my research this can wait until another day :-)

Story of my life.

Summer Steals - Part One

I can't wait for summer however me and the heat are not great friends.

I sweat like a pig, go as red as a pepper and steam can literally be seen rising from my head.

Despite my obvious need for easy, breezy summer attire, my wardrobe has always lacked anything resembling comfortable, cool and flattering summer clothes.

I can’t even remember what I wore last summer. There were some mid thigh denim boyfriend shorts. These must have been paired with t-shirts as Summer 09/10 was pre-WW no-arms-out days (aka. nothing to show the arm flab). I remember buying two navy jersey dresses and that floral Wish maxi dress that Facebook shows me I have worn to every summer event for the last two years.

Exhibit A - Uni Xmas 2008 (from the infamous, why do we all look like we are unpicking a wedgie photo)

Exhibit B - Admission Afters 2009

Exhibit C - H's going away party January 2009. At this stage I was about ten hours into the party, drunk on the beach and about to go swimming in my undies in the very questionable water never where Maccas used to be in Freo. Thanks to H for posting these photos about nine months after the fact. They do not show me best sides at all. Haha

Exhibit D - no photo but I wore this on the weekend with my purple Supre seven way cardi and Funkis Clogs. Repeat offender much.

My sister who lives in Darwin has mountains of pretty summer dresses. But then I suppose she has the income to throw hundreds of dollars away on little dresses.

My problem is that I have difficulty spending lots of money on summer clothes. And flattering, well washing, pretty dresses are hard to find on a small budget.

So for the last few weeks, I have been searching high and low for things to fill my summer wardrobe. And I can tell you, I am getting excited to wear these things.

This is what I have so far

Bali dress - FREE - gift from sister

Mink Pink shorts - $44.10 from Freez with 10% off code from Never Shopped Out

Jeanswest Dress - $16.50 Ebay

Topshop Dress - $10.50 Ebay

Nookie - at $134.95, not a steal but I couldn't resist the colours for summer

I also scored a scored a couple of dresses with the City Beach Surf 50% sale and from The Grandsocial Outlet.

Another untapped source is Gumtree. Three dresses and a skirt for $38. BARGAIN. And the seller is going to drop them off at my house so no shipping charge.

It is hard when there are so many gorgeous designer dresses but I just can't justify the $200+ price tags.

Now all I need is a few tops and some sandals and I am done... hopefully ... if I can curb my spending.
Wow what a pointless, boring post. Was kind distracted by Glee. Sorry

And yes I have been absent. I was going to write a big long post about my absence but I got half way through it last week and gave up. I do that sometimes … all the time. I also have a virus and feel very very lethargic. I walked across the road to buy Powerade this morning and it wore me out. Like, I had to sit down and rest for a good half an hour and drink my Powerade before I could concentrate on thinking about doing any work. I am soo thirsty all the time. How much Powerade is too much Powerade? I could drink five or more a day at the moment. Purse strings are restricting it to two though. And then I dream about Powerade. Sensitive spawn of a red-head me also has a nasty rash on my face. This is how my virus presented itself. I look like the mysterious woman who wears red lipstick on her cheeks as blush. If you are from Perth I am sure you know who I am talking about. There are so many rumors about this woman. My dad says she has scars and uses the make-up to cover it up. Others say she is a genius and was a businesswoman extraordinaire who is worth millions. Maybe she is just a little strange and is walking to beat of her own drum. Whatever the reason, I served her at my checkout for over four years and she was always very nice to me, and I hope I never starred at her too much. Anyway, I was being a tad dramatic about my rash. The steroid cream I have been smothering all over my face is working. Now I just have to wait for the infected layer of skin to peel off. Woe is me huh. Woe is life.

Good to be back, hope you are still enjoying reading me. If not, I will get over myself in time!!

Lotsa Lemmings

As my last post made me feel a tad depressed, I have just been off distracting myself with pretty things.

Prior to September 2004, this is where my mind went to when I thought of lemmings:

Memories of primary school computer class and grandad’s study come floading back just looking at this. LETS GO!

Now as a Voguette, a lemming is something that I want. Something on my to-buy list. Though usually it is something on my will-never-buy-as-I-can-no-longer-fathom-spending-that-much-on-shoes-clothes-accessories list.

I enjoy drooling over expensive clothes. At university, I used to spend hundreds of dollars on single pieces from Lover, Zimmerman, Karen Walker, Alice McCall, Kate Hurst, Ruby Smallbone and other reasonably branded pieces. I had Chanel sunnies and MJ perfume. I am not sure how I afforded these things but I did only have law student uni hours (ie. 11 hours a week) and I always worked at least two jobs. Oh and I laybyed everything. This was pre layby fees of course. And there were a few times my mum or sister had to bail me out when I couldn't pay my laybys off. Unfortunately they were not that generous so my lovelies (yes you KW blouse, I still remember you) went back onto the shelves.

Anyway, if you care and even if you don't, here is what I am lemming at the moment. I apologise to your bandwidth for my endless clothing posts of late, I am in that sort of mood.

SIGH.

What am I wearing today? This little Charlie Brown number is what I got on. T'was an Ebay buy. As were the RMK heels. I converted the black version of these babies for a long time but couldn’t bring myself to pay the $180 price tag. Then one day, I stumbled across these olive ones for $10. BARGAIN. They are actually very comfortable now I have lost some weight so they have had a few outings in the last few weeks.

These thick tights are a little shiny.

I also had a little surprise waiting for me when I got home last night. This High Society Dress by Ladakh from Freez. I only ordered it on Monday so YAY for fast shipping and great service. It’s a little transparent but nothing a good girdle and nude bra wouldn’t solve. Not sure how black tights will go under it (which is how I plan to style it mainly) but I should be able to counteract with a black slip.

I was not going to buy it. I loved it but I was going to wait and see If I was still thinking about it in a few days time (like every girl should). Then I befriended Freez on facebook (I thought there would be discount codes but alas). Then a girl I don’t know posted on Freez’s wall how she had bought the dress. Then I looked at it again and noticed they only had 3 left in stock. Then I knew, I HAD to have it. Now I see there are at least 9 in stock (go me).

It’s an okay dress I guess.

This is how I am going to style it. This all depends on me actually have a social life and having somewhere to go to wear it like this. I have a SATC fundraiser next weekend so maybe then. It will probably just sit in my closet looking pretty like most of my casual dresses that I can’t wear to work and that get pushed aside in my early morning weekend (I am talking like 10am here!) stumble out of bed grab some jeans and that tee that I don’t think is too smelly to wear out yet dressing rituals.

Ok, I cunningly manipulated my parents into giving me their old one
