Saturday Sillys - part four

Last task of the day is feeding the rentals cat Nixon. He is a wild little thing. I have no idea why he is named after an American president. Mum has basically changed his name to Nicky though. I like Nixon, so formality remains.

After our beloved Saffie passed away last year, dad resisted mum's pleads for mere months before they were at the shelter picking out a new kitty.

Nixon may be two, he may be three. He was apparently a stray found caught in a cage on large property. I believed this for a day, the very first day I met him, as he followed me around yowling at me and looking like he was going to eat me. He did have his manhood taken that day and was in a strange home so he will be forgiven.

Sans day one, Nixon is the friendliest cat I have ever met. Too friendly and easily accustomed to the rentals spoiling to be a stray. He leg rubs strangers and has no qualms sleeping in the middle of the floor in a room occupied by twenty people. Saf ran for the hills if you wore new shoes!

Below is the boy himself. We get boy cats so son-less dad has someone to male bond with. These two are pathetic together.

A little camera shy.

Ready for his closeup. He has the most beautiful grey colouring. I will try and get a better photo one day so you can see.

Get that phone Nicky. He is ready to pounce!

A House becomes a Home

On Saturday, the rentals and I helped my grandmother move house. She has lived in her old house in excess of 25 years and it was so strange that after only 8 hours the new house feels like her home. It is a gorgeous hundred year old house - so much nicer than the knock-down job 70's house she has just sold.

I wore this. Ever so appropriate huh:

Listening to some Austen.

New Boots. Love Em :-)

Cotton On Cardigan
Jeanswest Tee
Sportsgirl Shorts
Sportscraft Belt
Random Tights
Tony Bianco Boots
Billabong Bag

I had never worn shorts and tights before until this day. Outfit was constructed mainly as I wanted to wear and show off my new boots and wanted to wear clothes I didn't care too much about if they got dirty or ruined. I really liked the look. The shorts are probably two sizes too big but I managed to get a paperbag waste effect with the belt. The photos don't really do them justice, but I think the look is also rather flattering.

Now I am obsessed with shorts. A few I have my eye on lately are. Thoughts?

Birthday Blues Begone

Book bound and written by Grandad
Poem written by Granny

We used to get these every year as kids. This one is my favourite. I know this poem off by heart. I very much wish I was going to get one of these this year.

I am feeling very meh about turning 25. It's silly because I know 25 is so young but I feel so old. I think the lack of boyfriend/house/husband/children is making it worse. Not that I am ready for a house or marriage or children but feel that time is ticking away....

I am at work today (obviously working hard) which is always a bit of a downer but I went out to dinner last night with the folks for Indian which was nice. Indian is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE food. Palak Paneer my favourite dish. I have leftovers sitting in the fridge but I forgot them!! :-( Oh and at dinner parentals gave me my gift of  a Tom Tom - haha not exciting but at least I will not get lost soo much. I ALWAYS get lost.

I wore this purely because I failed to pack anything casual to wear to take to house-sitting house. This dress should have been ironed but house-sitting house iron decided to spew dirty crap all over my top the other day so I chose not too. I wanted to wear my new red boots but they looked silly with this dress. Will have to play around with them when I have access to my full wardrobe.

Country Road Dress
Supre Cardigan
Stewart Weitzman Shoes
Scarf from India

Geez the lighting is shocking. The dress is not soo shiny in real life. It also not so sack like.

Me and the puppy match!!

Back to it.

We were awesome

Sissy, Granny and Fi rocking into the late eighties

Inspired by Faux Fuschia who was inspired by My Parents Were Awesome I have decided to share some of my family's awesomeness with you.

Ok I was actually inspired after sitting in my room, not sleeping (What, me not sleep? It could not be) and staring at my string peg art (which you may remember from my This Morning post). The following photos are contained herein.

This is my dad's mother Enid. She looks so serene and elegant in this picture. I wish I knew this woman. Age has unfortunately not been kind to her.

This is my mum's mother Bunty. Ok so her real name is Kath (and she is the one wearing the funky shorts above), but when this photo was taken, I doubt anyone would have callled her that. Now genes are a wondrous thing because despite my dad's side of the family producing me little two cousins (from dad's half siblings) that look like they are my offspring, I also look so very much like my mum, who in turn looks like Bunty here.

You may not see the resemblence in this photo though. Look at that hair mum.

And because I can't resist, here is me. Aged about six months I assume, seeing this was taken at the farm my cousins (not the ones that look like me, the tall-thin-blonde ones) lived at. And six months from my birth would make it about Christmas, which seems about a good enough reasons for us city folks to be there. Anywho. This is me. I haven't really changed much.

This expression probably explains my premature brow wrinkles

The reason, why I am making this face? I will give you a hint. Look in the bottom left hand corner of the photo. What is that you ask? That is this fellow below, retreating after completely freaking out the baby. My cousin, who is only 6 months my senior, her 3 and a half year brother and my 3 and 9 month year old sister, were probably elated by the presence of this dear thing and jumping about outside the car asking to ride it. I alas was the timid child. It did not bide me well in childhood. There were many scrapes and brakes and a near fatal accident (but this clever child wore her bike helmet like the new law said, regardless of whether or not she was on a motor bike so no brain damage for me - YAY) caused by my timidness. The older children were never injured. I still feel the weather changing in my 20 year old chipped ankle bone from when the nasty older girl knocked me into the a 10 foot well to get to the Easter egg I was closing in on.

That is all.
