As little as a RDS 002 TOUR Yonex Tennis Racquet

Yes, as you may note from the title change, I put on. 300 grams. And I must say, thank god. I know that sounds strange but I needed a gain to give me a kick in the butt. I have been losing without all that much effort of late. I have been exercising, although not as much as I would like. I tried Zumba on Saturday which I loved. I sweated like a pig but it didn't even really feel like exercise. Tell that to my aching calves today though (aches may be due to skipping). I have however been lapse with my tracking. Tracking is the key. Track. Track. Track. For the last five days of last week, my tracker reads "25 points - Write Off". This has appeared on my weekly food chart for a month or so. I don't even know if I ate 25 points. I didn't make bad choices with my food, I just didn't keep track of what I ate. So I have no idea. Anyway, the kick in my butt worked and I am going to track everyday. Promise.

MY GOAL - I have always said I want to be at goal by the end of the year. On my calculations, there are 24 weeks until the end of the year. I have 12.3 kilos to lose. So a little over 0.5 a week. I can do it. I have nothing to lose.... or a lot :-)

PS. The racquet is another sign I should start up tennis again. Everywhere I go, I am getting signs. At Harbour Town I kept seeing all these adorable and cheap tennis outfits. Then there was a sale on Buy Invite for a gorgeous skirt/top/jacket set for under $100. Then on Saturday, I heard the undeniable sounds of someone hitting up against a wall and sure enough I looked out the window and within spitting distance there is a hit up wall. How did I never see this before? The universe is speaking to me. I am going to fish my racquet out on the weekend and have a hit. Hopefully it does not need restringing. I think I even have a tin of balls left from when I played pennants. When I was 12. Haha. Wish me luck.

As much as an ectasy filled Mr Potato Head (minus the Mr Potato Head)

300 grams. What an amusing MDMA trial that would have been. Sorry, sometimes I just have to Geek out for a second. Drug trials are notoriously boring.

In relevant news, at least I am still losing. Aiming for over 500 grams next week. Not sure if wussing out of going for a swim tonight is going to help though. It is just so bloody f'ing cold!!! Brr.

As much as a Metal Monument Convoy Beast Wars Japan Figure

That is how much I lost. 600 grams. 0.6kg. Yep Yep Yep.

Putting it down in writing that I am going to exercise everyday this week. Went for a swim tonight so Tuesday is down and only six days to go... now it is Friday (and I have haven't posted this yet... where is my head) and have done Wednesday but not Thursday. If I do Zumba and swim on Sat or Sun I will make it up. Promise :-)

A woman at my weight watchers calls started 2 days after I did and had lost 20 kilos to get to goal. That is 20 kilos in 17 weeks. OMG. I would guess she has gone from about 80 to 60 kilos, very similar what I have to do. Although they say it is not good to lose it too quickly, it certainly is a good motivator knowing she has lost about 7 kilos more than me in the same time period.

On weight loss and healthy lifestyle, there was a post on the WW website with some great advice. Let us see how I am going:

  1. Enlist the support of others. BIG YES FOR ME

  2. You don’t need to start on a Monday or next week. Start today! I HAVE SAID THIS TO MYSELF SO MANY TIMES BEFORE JOINING WW

  3. Fresh is best – eat lots of fresh foods, vegies and fruit. And stay away from fried and processed food. LOVE MY FRESH FOOD BUT SOMETIMES I AM LAPSE - NEED TO GO TO THE SHOPS

  4. Planning, portion control and persistence were the three Ps that kept me on track and focused. HMM - PROBABLY WEANING HERE AT PRESENT

  5. Ask yourself whether you really want to eat something or to reach Goal, be healthy and fit into that pair of jeans. GOOD SUGGESTION BUT SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO SAY NO

  6. Find an exercise you love. It will speed up your weight loss and stop the excuses taking over. YEP. LOVE SWIMMING. GETTING TO ENJOY MY WALKS HOME TOO

  7. Focus on getting one thing right at a time. Choose something to improve each week; it might be eating less chocolate or exercising more. TRYING TO DO THIS BUT I TEND TO GET TOO WRAPPED UP IN CHANGING EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE. THIS WEEK EXERCISE, NEED WEEK TO TACKLE THE CHOCOLATE ISSUE

  8. When things get hard, don’t give up! OR DO AND START AGAIN TOMORROW

  9. Think about the cost of food. What is your body getting out of it? NEED TO THINK THIS MORE

  10. Reward yourself with non-food treats for your weight loss. YEP YEP YEP

  11. The great thing about exercise is that every bit counts. Doing something small every day is a great exercise strategy. NEED TO THINK MORE LIKE THIS AND NOW I HAVE A SKIPPING ROPE WILL TRY AND AT LEAST DO THIS THE DAYS I DON'T EXERCISE. I NEED TO GET SOME HAND WEIGHTS TOO.

  12. Consider exercise as more than just an energy burner. See it also as a metabolic tune-up that reduces insulin resistance, optimises your weight-loss efforts and lifts your mood.  AND YOU FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AFTER

  13. Boosting the intensity of your exercise for short bursts (interval training) increases body-fat loss and in particular helps reduce visceral body fat (the most dangerous kind of fat that sits in and around your organs). I AM NOT A RUNNER BUT FANCY I AM SO I ALWAYS DO SPRINTS DURING MY WALKS... DOES THIS COUNT?

  14. Developing good physical activity habits requires organisation, planning and communication. Setbacks are perfectly normal, so don’t feel like you have failed. Stay positive and try again the following week. THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT WEEK AND THE WEEK AFTER AND THE WEEK AFTER THAT.

  15. Human beings are designed to move, not to live a sedentary lifestyle. The best exercise is a form of physical activity that you enjoy and will participate in most days of the week. YOU MEAN I WAS NOT BUILT FOR THE SOFA?

  16. Establish a lifetime love affair with movement. NOT SURE IT WILL BE AN AFFAIR, MAYBE MORE OF A FRIENDSHIP??

  17. Focus on having a healthy lifestyle. If you sustain a healthy lifestyle with exercise and the right diet, then you will most likely never have to worry about losing weight again. THIS IS NOT A DIET

  18. Your body adapts to your exercise routines quickly, so increase the work you do from one cardio session to the next to ensure that you continue to improve your fitness and lose body fat. HAVE ONLY BEEN WALKING ABOUT THREE WEEKS AND ALREADY FEEL I NEED TO AMP IT UP. TOMMOROW IS THE DAY.

  19. If you're bored, your body isn't benefiting. Vary your exercise to challenge your body and engage your mind. ZUMBA ANYONE?

  20. One more minute in duration, one higher level of intensity, or one more session in a week is all that’s needed to ensure increases in fitness and quality of life. Train with the intent to improve on last time! THIS IS HARD WHEN IT IS COLD BUT I WILL TRY

  21. Plateaus occur on the road to weight-loss success, often when you’re close to Goal. The key is to shake up your eating and exercise itinerary so there’s a new unexplored route ahead, and not push on with the same mapped path. I THINK I AM AT MY HALF WAY PLATEAU - NEED TO GET OVER THE HUMP

  22. Always listen to your body. Only eat if you are hungry, not out of habit, and stop eating well before you are too full. BUT TONIGHT MY BODY IS TELLING ME I AM HUNGRY AND I ALREADY ATE A LOT!!

  23. Try to improve your meal proportions by making your meals a quarter protein (beef, chicken, fish, tofu, legumes/lentils), a quarter carbohydrate (bread, pasta, rice, potato, noodles) and half vegetables. I REALLY NEED TO GET KITCHEN SCALES

  24. To really find out what you eat and how much, keep a daily food diary and check the type and amount of food you choose. HELLO WW

  25. Whenever possible, choose wholegrain low-GI carbohydrates. LUCKY I PREFER THEM

  26. When trying to reduce your portion sizes to lose weight, take two spoonfuls off your main meals and leave one spoonful or one bite from snacks. You will gradually get used to eating less and feeling satisfied without overfilling your stomach. I HATE LEAVING FOOD THOUGH

  27. Avoid processed foods and always read the nutritional information panels on packaged foods. EAT LESS CRAP FI!!

  28. Identify kilojoules hiding in things like that biscuit at morning tea, then try to reduce them.

  29. Plan your meals in advance. THIS IS A STORY TO ITSELF BUT I RARELY DO THIS

  30. Hunger is your friend. It is not a pathological condition. If you don’t get hungry 2–3 times each day, you are eating too much! HELLO HUNGER, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO EAT?

As much as a packet of Goji Berries

That is how much I lost. 100 grams. Or 0.1 kilos, which is the way I say it for some reason. The weight losing thing is getting pretty ridiculous. I drank at least 2 bottles of champagne, had cake four times, had copious amounts of Indian food on Thursday night, had wonderful cheesy Mexican goodness on Friday night, had nibbles and pasta boxes on Saturday night, had “huge” toasted sandwich goodness for lunch on Sunday (ok it wasn’t huge but granny can’t help but comment on what I eat and the size of it so it felt huge – although I was not commented on as much due to the odd American women who sat next to us, ordered about six meals, two sodas and two milkshakes between them, had about three mouthfuls worth and then pulled containers from their rucksacks (I say this for effect, we call them “backpacks” in Australia.... although that is a personal joke between me and someone who doesn’t even know about my blog so I am not sure why I felt the need to even state it).. gosh where was I???? ... rucksacks and packed the food to go, and left, followed up by a huge home made mummy pizzas on Sunday night. To top it all off, I only walked once and swam once and the swim was half arsed and I only did 30 laps because as usual I was running late to get to K’s house..... So how did I lose weight? God knows. I am all in astonishment. Maybe the weight will just all appear one day, maybe not. Maybe I subconsciously over exaggerating what I am eating......

Case in point. Nibbles. My friend K set up the games table with a small nibbles platter in each corner. I sat at the one with hummus and rice crackers. I picked all night but only at the olives, hummus, salsa, carrot sticks and apple slices. I may of had a little slice cheese but lets not count that. Before, I would have eaten a lot of cracker biscuits and cheese. I didn’t even feel like I was missing out though. So I guess it’s not that bad after all. I am glad my habits are changing, and it feels quite naturally, so maybe this is the key for me.

Any who, the Goji Berries. I got some today from IGA for about $13 for 300grams. You can get them in Coles for between $6 to $10 but they usually only have 150gram packets. House mate/best friend, who we will now refer to as L, is on a gluten free diet at the moment and she picked some of these up to snack on the other day. I tried them, researched them, read the Voguettes opinions and decided they were for me.

The benefits of Goji Berries aka Wolfberries are they contain lots of amino acids, protein, vitamin C, antioxidants. They also contain some anti-cancer trace mineral. So basically they are the super food of super food. As I am now old, I need all the help I can get.

Back to the berries, I like them, others don’t. I think the taste could be acquired. You can eat them as they are, put them in cereal or oats, make tea or add them to soups. I am sure there is a myriad of other things you can do with them too.
The packet say a serve is 100 grams (which is only 1.5 WW points) but I am just going to leave them on my desk and snack on them (and sneakily not count them as points) and see how they go.

I also went to the Orthodontist to get moulds and photos for my braces today. Wait, have I Fiona Moaner’d you about my braces yet? Don't think so. Long story short, I have the teeth of a 50 year old and have to get nearly all of them crowned. Not as easy as just crowning them though. Little jaw, little teeth, eroded enamel = crowns won’t stay on so I have had to have very painful blood inducing Prosthodontics (for my genetic gingivitis that went undetected for 24 years and costs $400 a pop), followed by braces on bottom teeth to fix my bite and create more room for. YAY for me. And yay for being a complete fat ugly loser with glasses and adult braces. Haha. Woe is me. I didn’t really mean that, I just like being dramatic. I am actor after all. Ok I was an actor but that’s not the point. More on that later.

So very soon, this will be me:

Wait a minute.... Haven't I looked like this before?

Busy Birthday Bash-ing

Sorry for lack of posting. I have has a huge birthday weekend. Alas, I have no photos to show for it. Or so I thought....

I just found this on my phone. This I believe is a photo taken by breasts (Nigella and Winona) while using the bathroom at the dinner party/games night my friend K held for me on Saturday night. See there is K's shower in the background, and I was wearing black, those hands look short and stubby and the glint in the top right corner could easily be my phone. As I rarely wear garments with pockets, I have a tendency to use what god gave me for storage. I have no recollection of this moment ever happening though. At least there is one surviving remnant of my 25th birthday. Oh the memories .... of washing my hands...

I also have some weekend outfits to post but this will have to wait until I, A locate the battery for my camera to upload them and B, regain enough mental capacity to post them.

I have managed a reworked outfit repeat today. As my entire wardrobe in currently adorning my bedroom floor this was the only thing that was in hands reach and did not require ironing (have I used this excuse before?).

However, as I am now old, I am having hot flushes, (can anyone explain why the yanks call them “flashes”??) the said dress needed to be taken off for a while. I was just walking around with the sleeves hanging down but then I had a brain wave to tuck them into the skirt and ta-dah, a new outfit is born… Until the flush goes away and I start freezing my arse off again.

Please wish me luck for my weigh in tonight. I have eaten sooo much and exercised sooo little this week. But you only turn 25 once right? I will be ok with putting on anything up to 1.5kg. I say this so I will be happy with my result when I don't put this much on. I will probably gain more though, given last two weeks have freakishly lost and then remained the same. Oh well I feel good about myself at the moment (bar the little incident at Supre but I am using my aging memory to suppress that one) so that is all that matters right. There is always next week....

As much as a gray-faced sengi

Yep. That's how much weight I have lost this last week. 700 grams. Which is apparantly how much this little fella weighs.

I am pleased with this effort as it's my first week back on track after being sick for a while. I have been feeling in a rut for while. How did I do it? Managed to stay pretty much within my points all week (hmm on review I was only over once, and it was only by two points - thats a first in a while). Got two  2kms and one 1.5kms swims in. Also bit the bullet and went for my first walk since joining WW. I haven't "gone for a walk" since November last year (when I started swimming at the Physio's suggestion). I might have overdone it a bit though. Walked for an hour, 6.37kms, with three sprints on the last leg. My hips, lower back fat and calves are killing now but I plan to go for another this week so hopefully my body will get used to it soon enough. The key - I was listening the Pride and Prejudice on Audiobook while I walked. The "Darcy Letter" chapters to be exact. Not only did it entertain me, Darcy's fiercely expressed explanations of his actions motivated me to walk longer and push harder... I also wanted to get to the bit where Lizzie begins to fall in love with him (Hopeless I am). Now I just need to upload my Glee songs.

So my total loss is now 11.2kgs. Finally past that 11kg mark. I have been hovering around 10kgs for weeks. Next goal is 15% of start weight which is 71kg. As I am big on visuals at the moments, here is my weight loss, graphically.

Now I am hungry.
