OMG

This dress from Supre costs $125 from Supre. What is the world coming too. If you don't beliebe me, check it out here.

Wedding Wackiness

Because my friends  S and J are getting married in just over six months, I of course am looking for something to wear. They are getting married in Perth in early December by the foreshore. So in other words, it is gonna be stinking hot.

So far these are the contenders:

BCBG - Shopbop

Sara Phillips - Maximillia

Sass & Bide

Ok, I may have lied. I might have been looking for something to wear since they announced their engagement late last year. A girl can never be too prepared.

Asos Addict

ASOS, we need to talk. I hate you. I have a very bad habit of going there everyday and clicking on New Arrivals. I wish a genie would grant my wish of having a gift card that never runs out.

I love how the above looks are considered "summer".

I know this is not "new" but I absolutely NEEEEED this entire outfit.

PS. Sorry the ASOS Review Blog is not really going anywhere. I haven't bought anything in a while and have no contributors. There is a pretty good thread on vogue forums anyway. Think I will just delete it.

Elle Fanning

I know it kinda creepy because she is half my age, but I am completely obsessed with Elle Fanning. I have been since I first saw her in Daddy Day Care. Up until a few months ago I thought her name was pronounced Ellie. She has such and ethereal look and presence about her. The girl has style too. Kinda weird that I look up to a 13 year old for style inspiration. My love for her was cemeted when I saw Phoebe in Wonderland. This such a touching film and she stole the show. I hear she does the same thing in Somewhere and I am really looking forward to seeing this. IMD also tells me she has just finished filming a movie about my favourite composer Vivaldi, can't wait to see that!!

PS. I love Dakota too. They seem like such a sensible and down to earth family.

She is a ballerina.

Valentino at 12. My oh my.

Stylish sisters at the MET Gala.

I saw this pic in a magazine where a panel critque what the celebrities are wearing. All but one said this was terrible. Luckily one of the ladies realised this outfit for what is it, Elle leaving her ballet class. If you frequent her Fashion Spot thread like I do, you will see this is a common occurrence.

25 Quesions

Do it if you want. If not, don't.

Question 1: Do you have any pets ? Yes and no. My parents have a cat, Nixon and D has too cats Avatar and Salty that I like to pretend are all mine. Although technically I will be house sitting for my parents for six months come July so I guess Nicky will be mine for some time.

Question 2: Name three things that are physically close to you: My phone, a photo of a buffalo and a box of business cards.

Question 3: What’s the weather like right now ? As far as I can tell it is nice. There is sun through the window but as there is no fresh air in my office you can rarely tell what it is like outside. Update: It is 28 fucking degrees in my office. I am sweltering. BOM tells me it is only 19.6 outside.

Question 4: Do you drive ? If so, have you crashed? Yes and yes. Well someone rear ended me and Winona (my car at the time) was written off. I was crying so hard that I made the young guy who hit me tell my dad over the phone what he did. Hehe. I was not even 18 at the time.

Question 5: What time did you wake up this morning ? I woke up at 5.45am. I didn’t get out of bed until 8.40am and even that was very hard.

Question 6: When was the last time you showered ? About two hours ago, just after I woke up.

Question 7: What was the last movie that you saw ? Casino Royale (though I kinda slept through a bit in the middle).

Question 8: What does you last text message say? Was just confirming an appointment for tomorrow

Question 9: What is your ringtone ? I don’t even know!!

Question 10: Have you ever been to a different country? Yes.

Question 11: Do you like sushi? Yes sirree, I will even eat the Coles rolls.

Question 12: Where do you buy your groceries? Mainly IGA as there is one close to both me and D's house and it open late

Question 13: Have you ever taken any medication to help you fall asleep faster? Only some very expensive herbal stuff my sister gave me but I ended up spilling it (don't tell her). I don’t really need help sleeping, it is my favourite pastime.
Question 14: How many siblings do you have ? One big sister.

Question 15: Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop? I have a laptop (and use an iPad when I can steal D's).

Question 16: How old will you be turning on your next birthday? 26. In exactly one month. Where did my youth go?

Question 17: Do you wear contacts or glasses ? Glasses. I really need to get some contacts though.

Question 18: Do you colour your hair ? Yes.

Question 19: Tell me something you are planning to do today: Going to get back to work asap!!

Question 20: When was the last time you cried? On Monday.

Question 21: What is your perfect pizza topping? Hmm pepperoni. Anything with lots of veggies.
Question 22: Which do you prefer, hamburger or cheeseburger? Hamburger but only gourmet ones, I don't do fast food burgers since I found a long black hair in my mouth after eating half a burger about five years ago. Needless to say it ended up in the toilet that night. Was a blessing in disguise really.

Question 23: Have you ever had an all-nighter? Never. Ok there was one time when I was uni that we stayed up until 6am working on a mooting competition paper but I did go home and sleep for two hours before being back at uni at 9am so that doesn’t really count. I am kinda a goody goody and as I said, sleep is my best friend.

Question 24: What is your eye colour ? They change like a mood ring but are brown

Question 25: Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke? Yes. Pepsi is a no no!! Ok unless they do not have Coke and D makes me buy Pepsi Max :-)

Oh! The Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care. About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.” With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street.

And you may not find any you’ll want to go down. In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town. It’s opener there in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you.

And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew. Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!
You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.

You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

Except when you don’t.

Because, sometimes, you won’t.

I’m sorry to say so but, sadly, it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.

You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on. You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump. And the chances are, then, that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump, you’re not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked. A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin! Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win?

And if you go in, should you turn left or right…or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite? Or go around back and sneak in from behind? Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.

The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.

No! That’s not for you!

Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing. With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be, with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don’t. Because, sometimes, they won’t.

I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something you’ll be quite a lot.

And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants. There are some, down the road between hither and yon, that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

But on you will go though the weather be foul. On you will go though your enemies prowl. On you will go though the Hakken-Kraks howl. Onward up many a frightening creek, though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak. On and on you will hike. And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

Kid, you’ll move mountains!
So…be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places!

Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!

My five pet peeves

1. Picking

2. Not recycling

3. People who do not wear hats or make their children wear hats when outdoors for extended periods of time (or when in a convertible)

4. When people at work "whisper" in our small office. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything or go outside

5. When parents do not even attempt to get their screaming/crying/yelling/running children to calm down

Floral Flirtations

Since about say last Thursday, I have become obsessed with flowers. Maybe because its Mother's Day so they are more abundant in the shops however I am noticing their pretty blossoms more and more in the shops. I usual walk past them without even a blink of the eye. Hmm I think I might both my mum, granny and myself some for Mother's Day. I have never bought myself flowers before. I think it is about time that I did. Now what to chose...

My views of mainstream music

Confession. I am not really into music. I like music and there is little music that I hate. I will listen to anything really. I get most enjoyment out of musical theatre songs and classical music. I don't have a favourite singer or band. I watch Glee.

Therefore my only opinion about mainstream music that it even has to be termed "mainstream" in the first place. Just because a song is played on the radio does not mean it is bad or not cool. Neither does it mean it is good. It really irritates me when people dislike music just because a lot of other people do and they get a lot of exposure. I know what it is like to be irritated by a song after hearing it a lot but I hate it that people won't even give a band/song a chance because every Tom, Dick and Harry have hears of it.

We all need a little mmbop in our lives after all.

Ok so I might need some help on this one readers so I will open the forum for discussion.. Take is away Looloo...

Things I want to say to an ex (friend)

If you can't fathom why I don't want to see you or speak to you, then you are still the same deluded and selfish person you were when we were friends and you demonstrate perfectly my reason for not wanting you in my/our life.

Bullet my day - Monday (a bit behind I am)

- 2.48am. Wake up from deep sleep and realise me and D had fallen asleep fully clothed on the bed. Attempt to wake D and cat up, no luck. Get up, brush teeth, take pill, drink water, undress and crawl into bed. Tum light off. D wakes up two seconds later that exclaims he "is still fully clothed". Turn light back on and hide under covers. Go back to sleep.

- 6.45am. Alarm goes off. Turn alarm off and bemoan the fact that D and cat have taken over the bed and blanket

- 6.45am to 7.35am. Sleep, cuddle, play with cat

- 7.35am to 8am. Drag self out of bed to shower and dress while D and cat lounge around in bed playing on iPad

-8am. Leave for work. Drive through peak hour traffic for half and hour. Blessed traffic was not too bad. Yay for school holidays.

- 8.30am to 5.20pm. Work. Settle one matter that was about to go to trial. Sort through and organise some paperwork I had messed up. Browse the net. Eat a lot. Talk to coworkers about holidays.

- 5.20pm. Leave work (this is earlier than usual as I had had enough). Before I leave, sort through the wardrobe in my car and ascertain that I don’t have to go home for exercise gear and can drive straight to D’s

- 6.05pm. Arrive at D’s house. Say hi to D who is building man tools, pat the cat and dump my stuff. Get changed to go to the movies

- 6.50pm. Leave D’s house for the movies. Watch Thor (in 2D). Good movie.

- 9.20pm. Eat Maccas for dinner in the empty foodhall in which only Maccas is open. I had a Caesar Wrap, it was pretty good.

- 9.45pm. Arrive back at D’s, get changed and under duress help him finish constructing his Table Saw.

- 10.30pm to 11.15pm. Go inside and leave D to his man tools. Sneakily eat some of the lemon slice I made on Sunday. Surf the net, read some junk mail, get ready for bed. D came in at some stage and took control of the iPad.

- 11.15pm. Turn light off and go to sleep to sound of D and cat cuddling and watching wood watching videos and thinking about how I have to get up at 5.30am for bootcamp.

Tiffany's Tirade

In an attempt to cheer myself up after a sad couple of days I am fantasizing about buying myself something from Tiffany's. Since the days of the locket bracelet craze I have wanted something from there but for some reason never got around to buying anything. This is of course despite knowledge that T&C has a tendency of not being worth the $$ and me being on a shopping ban. I thought about George Jensen or Marc by Marc Jacobs (two other elusive brand for me) but no, I was decided, Tiffs it would be.

Yesterday the desire was overwhelming to buy myself something really nice for me. I am such an emotional shopper. Turns out D is too. Although man tools and Bunnings does not really cheer me up in the same way that shiny sparkly jewelery would.

This sudden obsession over NEEDING fancy jewellery is a little off beat for me. I rarely ever wear jewels and when I do it is costume. If I recall correctly in the last four months I have worn my Karen Walker tusk necklace about three times, my bow necklace once, a $3 pair of Sportsgirl black rose earrings twice and a (gorgeous) Sportsgirl bow leopard print ring three times. You just must see the ring, it is fab:

Apart from a string of pearls that I got when I was 10 (and maybe a Pandora bracelet if you count that), I do not own any "fine" jewelry. My sister has a lot. It just really isn't my kinda thing or I have just never been given any or felt the inclination to buy any. I do fantasise though.

Case in point  is engagements rings. I think spending tens of thousands of dollars on a ring is ridiculous (as well as on a wedding). If I am to ever marry I don't know how I would wear a ring as I am such a fiddler and would be bound to lose it. I think I would probably just wear it around my neck. It wouldn't be fancy nor expensive anyway. Give me vintage art deco anyday. Hmm a bit off topic there. So many people (and bloggers) seems to be getting married atm I am getting taken away with all the hype. I like nice things as much as the next person but some people just go crazy and over the top. I'd prefer to spend my money on things that count like paying off debs, holidays, home renovations or building a nest egg. A pretty backyard with a barbecue seems as good a place as any to me to tie the knot. It doesn't mean I can't look at other people's extravagance though.

Anyway back to Tiff. I trawled through the website for ages trying to decide what sort of piece I would like as my first.

Ring? No, I would wear it once before I look down and realise it is not on my finger, rush to the loos during my uncle's 60th birthday speech only to get there and remember it was in my bra after all for safe keeping. Or lose my grandmother's heirloom which I was not supposed to be wearing anyway the afternoon of my Year 12 ball and make my mum drive all around the suburbs looking for it only to discover it was in my bag all along.

Earrings? No, I forget I had them and then when I remembered them and decided to wear them, I would try and put them in when I am driving along the freeway (being stared at the whole time by an army officer who is strapped to the back of the jeep in front of me) and manage to re-pierced my my right ear (how could I put it through the wrong hole ??) that has been closed up for the last 16 years after I refused to have crooked earrings and made my mum let me pierce the right one again so they were straight.

Bracelet? No. Too hard to type with them on. It annoys me.

Necklace?? Yes. I can fiddle with a pendant all I like by it will stay firmly secured around my neck and not cause too much stress or annoyance.

So I finally decided on this:

The Return to Tiffany double heart tag pendant.
Mini double heart tag pendant in sterling silver and 18k rose gold. On a 16" chain.

At $250 I thought it was a good price. A little more special than just stirling silver but not too expensive and with real old worldly T&C charm.

I was decided, I would buy it. Free shipping over $150 too. Bargain. Then I clicked to enter by details and it said that they only delivered to the US. What?? Oh no, I realised I had opened to US site (I had looked a few separated times that day). Never mind I thought, I'll just pop over the the AU site. I thought it might be a little more expensive but not much. To my dismay here it costs $385!!! What? How can there be a $135 difference? There is a Tiffany & Co in Perth now for Christ sake. It is not like it is any longer unobtainable or exotic.

This disheartening discovery made be rethink my irrational NEED want for something fancy and I am at peace with the fact that this pretty necklace will not be fine. I can;t stop thinking about it though. It keeps my mind off things.

And breathe
